About Steph

My name is Steph and running is my passion.

I embarked on my running journey later in life in my 30s and quickly fell in love with the sport. My passion drove me to become a dedicated student of running, absorbing knowledge from every available source—books, articles, podcasts, and nutrition/fueling guides—to enhance my performance. The books and information that has profoundly impacted my running focus (as runner and coach) is on the concept of growth mindset and it’s application to life and running.

As a relentless grinder, I have consistently chipped away at my goals, improving my marathon personal best from 4:00:01 to 3:00:20, my half marathon from 1:53 to 1:23, my 10km from 1:00 to 38:30, and my 5km from 26:00 to 18:45. I have been formally coaching for three years now but over a decade of experience coaching friends. My love for coaching rivals my passion for running. I have also been learning from my own coach(s) since early 2016.Throughout my journey, I have experienced setbacks, injuries, and overtraining. Each challenge has taught me valuable lessons on handling these situations, ensuring proper recovery, and maintaining a positive mindset. These experiences have made me a more empathetic and effective coach.

My coaching philosophy prioritizes happiness in training and racing and running longevity. As a master runner myself, I understand the unique needs of training mature adults compared to younger athletes.

As the mother of two beautiful girls, I strive to set an example of how hard work, commitment, and discipline lead to rewarding outcomes.

I cherish the runner-coach connection, such a fun relationship that brings immense rewards. Through my coaching, I aim to teach and learn, inspire and be inspired, guide, and support each runner on their personal journey to achieve their best.

I am also a very active member of the Natal Day Race Committee. I love giving back to the community I love!
