After standing in front of the student body, looking pregnant, at the school where I work, several students had questions for me. The Child Studies class asked (demanded) me to do a Q & A session with them where they could ask me about my pregnancy.
I worked with this particular class before during their contraception unit and know that they are a curious and fun group of 15 and 16 year olds, so I easily agreed. I saw them in the hallway on the day before my big presentation and they were literally jumping up and down with excitement. Youth never cease to amaze me.
I spend a hilarious and informative 80 minutes with them last week. Among other things, they were very interested in how my husband I would choose a name. We haven’t chosen any names yet and will likely keep this process to ourselves, but these relentless youth begged to help. So I agreed to gather a boy and girl name from each of them. Many of them got carried away and “helpfully” submitted more than one name. Who needs to buy a baby name book with you have access to groups of teenagers!
